Support this Website

Our website is 100% run by volunteers, but funds are needed to help us pay for the domain, print outs of archives and the entire research process, which can sometimes include traveling and is very time consuming.

Every dollar helps us maintain this site free for public use.

If you are considering making a donation, here is a list of ways we use our funds.  As you can see, even one dollar really does make a difference.

How Donations Are Used

$1`helps us pay for printing
pages from archives at
local libraries, like these
$1 helps us pay for printing pages of archives from the libraries.  These copies can run from 25 cents to $1 per page, depending on the library.

$5 helps us pay for gas to travel to libraries and cities for research.  While most of the research can be done online and through email, other times information on cold cases are not available online anymore, as newspapers that go out of business were either never online or are no longer online for viewing.  This requires us to research microfilm at individual libraries and print out the pages.

$10 helps us pay for subscriptions to the local paper which charges a monthly fee to read. Currently, the Ventura County Star charges $4.99 for a digital subscription. $10 would help pay for two months' worth of research.

$15 helps us pay to research for contact information on families of the victims who may have moved out of the area.  This is the most important cost to our website, since being able to speak to the families of the victims can help get us information, pictures, and contacts to other detectives working on the case.  Many people finder sites charge about the same.

$20 helps us pay for research supplies and materials.  Even though this is a website, our research consists of doing research a lot of the old fashioned way, including keeping file folders of each case featured here, binders, staples, pens and paper.   Donations in forms of supplies are always welcomed.  File folders, dry erase markers, reams of paper and printer ink are the most used supplies.

$30 helps us pay for our subscription to NewsPaperArchive.com.  While we try to use free newspaper archives from libraries, it is not always possible to get complete and thorough information.  This is particularly important as we cross reference and fact check all entries and cases.

$50 helps us upgrade the technology we currently use to help with our research.  This includes apps, computer upgrades and advanced voice recorders used in interviews with the families as well as training in journalism for new volunteers.

$75 helps us pay for our annual domain renewal and maintenance.

Although we accept donations, we are not currently set up as a non-profit and are unable to offer tax deductions for your donation.  However, all donations are received with the outmost appreciation.
